School cleaning services for UK schools, academies and colleges

School cleaning services cover classrooms, corridors, halls, toilets and dining areas cleaned after the school day, with enhanced DBS-checked operatives, colour-coded equipment and safeguarding-compliant working. Term-time rotas run daily, with deep cleans, floor restoration and hall maintenance scheduled into school holidays.

Cleaning a school is a safeguarding activity before it is a cleaning activity. Anyone on site during or near the school day must be vetted, identifiable and supervised, and your contractor should be able to evidence that without you having to chase for it.

The second difference is the calendar. A school contract that only prices the daily clean is underspecified: the value is in what happens during the six weeks, half-terms and INSET days, when floors can be stripped and sealed, halls restored and toilets deep cleaned without a single pupil on site.

What makes school & education cleaning different

Enhanced DBS as standard, not on request

Every operative working on a school site holds an enhanced DBS check with barred-list information. Certificates and the single central record entries are provided to the school before mobilisation.

    Safeguarding-aware working practices

Signing in and out, visible ID, no lone working with pupils, and an agreed escalation route if an operative encounters a safeguarding concern. Staff are briefed on your policy, not a generic one.

    Infection control in high-density spaces

Classrooms and toilets in a primary school are among the highest-touch environments in any building. Colour-coded cloths and mops, touchpoint routines and correct dwell times matter far more here than they do in an office.

The holiday programme is where standards are recovered

Hard-floor strip and seal, carpet extraction, hall polishing, kitchen deep cleans and high-level dusting all belong in the holidays. Planned properly, the school returns each September visibly reset rather than gradually declining year on year.

    Scope of works

A typical specification. Yours is built from a site survey, not a template — but this is the shape of it.

    How the schedule works

    • Daily cleaning normally starts after the last lesson and finishes before the site closes, with a midday washroom check where the school wants one.
    • Breakfast and after-school clubs are factored into the rota so late-use rooms are still cleaned rather than skipped.
    • A 12-month holiday planner is agreed at contract start — half-terms for targeted work, Easter and summer for floor restoration and deep cleans.
    • Multi-academy trusts run one specification and one reporting standard across every school, with per-site supervisors and trust-level audit visibility.

School & education cleaning — frequently asked questions

Are all your school cleaning staff DBS checked?

Yes. Every operative working on a school site holds an enhanced DBS check including barred-list information before their first shift, and we supply the details your school needs for its single central record.

Do you clean during school holidays?

Yes, and it is where most of the value sits. Holidays are used for floor strip and seal, carpet extraction, hall restoration, high-level dusting and deep cleaning that cannot be done in term time.

How much does school cleaning cost?

Pricing is driven by cleanable area, pupil numbers, the number of washroom blocks and the holiday programme you want included. Schools are usually quoted an annual contract value split across term-time and holiday works so budgeting is predictable.

Can you take on our existing in-house cleaning team?

Yes. Where TUPE applies the existing team transfers on their current terms. We run the consultation and onboarding, and in most cases the same familiar faces stay in the building with better equipment, training and supervision.

Can you cover a whole multi-academy trust?

Yes. Trusts are contracted centrally with one specification, consistent audit scoring across every school, and a single point of contact — while each site keeps its own named supervisor.

What happens if a cleaner is off sick?

Cover is built into the contract. Absence is filled from the local team rather than left to the following day, and the site supervisor confirms cover so the school is not the one chasing.

    Request a cleaning proposal

Tell us about the estate and we'll come back with a costed, site-by-site proposal — not a generic price list.

No auto-renew, no 12-month lock-in. We'll never pass your details to a third party.
