Warehouse cleaning services for UK distribution and logistics sites

Warehouse cleaning services cover ride-on scrubbing of floors and MHE routes, high-level cleaning of racking, beams and lighting, welfare and office areas, and yard and loading-bay sweeping. Work is scheduled around live shift patterns and completed under a site-specific RAMS, with operatives trained for working near moving plant.

A warehouse is not a large office. The cleaning risk sits in the traffic: forklifts and reach trucks moving in the same aisles as the cleaning team, dust that settles on racking eight metres up, and floor contamination that turns into a slip claim the moment a pallet leaks. The specification has to be written around the operation, not dropped on top of it.

We build warehouse contracts from a site survey that maps pedestrian and MHE routes, identifies the areas that need scrubbing versus sweeping, and establishes which high-level work needs access equipment and a permit. That survey is what turns a price into a plan your health and safety lead can actually sign off.

    What makes warehouse cleaning different

    Cleaning around moving plant

Aisles are cleaned in agreed zones with segregation in place, or during shift changeover. Operatives are briefed on your traffic management plan and wear the PPE your site requires — high-vis, safety footwear, bump caps where mandated.

    Floor condition drives the method

Sealed power-float concrete takes a ride-on scrubber-drier; damaged or porous slabs need a different pad, chemical and dwell time or you simply move dirt around. We assess the slab before committing to a frequency.

High-level dust is a fire and product risk

Dust on beams, sprinkler heads and light fittings is a genuine hazard, and in food or pharma storage it is an audit failure. High-level cleaning is scheduled as a periodic task with the right access — MEWP, scissor lift or pole system — under permit.

Welfare areas are what staff judge you on

Canteens, locker rooms and toilets on a 24-hour site take heavy, continuous use. These get the highest frequency in the specification because they drive both staff retention complaints and environmental health exposure.

    Scope of works

    Standards and compliance

    Site-specific RAMS
Risk assessment and method statement issued before mobilisation and reviewed whenever the operation or layout changes.
    COSHH
Product data sheets held on site, decanting controlled, and chemicals selected to be compatible with stored goods.
    Working at height
High-level work planned under permit with trained operators and inspected access equipment.
    Slip and trip control
Wet-floor signage, cordoned working zones and scrubber-drier use that leaves floors dry behind the machine.
    Right to work & vetting
Identity and right-to-work checks on every operative, with enhanced vetting where your site requires it.
    TUPE
Where an incumbent team transfers, we run the consultation and measurement information process properly rather than treating it as an afterthought.

    How the schedule works

    • Most logistics sites are cleaned on a night or twilight shift so the floor is clear of MHE and the scrubber can run uninterrupted.
    • 24/7 operations get a zoned rota — the site is divided and each zone cleaned when its activity drops, rather than trying to clean everywhere at once.
    • Periodic high-level and deep-clean tasks are booked into a 12-month planner at contract start so they are never the thing that gets skipped.
    • Peak season (Q4 for most 3PLs) is planned for in advance: extra welfare cover, more frequent yard clears, and no periodic works scheduled into your busiest weeks.

Warehouse cleaning — frequently asked questions

How much does warehouse cleaning cost in the UK?

Warehouse cleaning is usually priced per square metre or on an hours-based rota rather than a flat rate, because a 5,000 m² sealed-floor unit cleaned nightly and a 5,000 m² multi-mezzanine pick operation are completely different jobs. Our UK price guide sets out realistic ranges, and a site survey gives you a firm figure.

Can you clean while the warehouse is operating?

Yes. We clean live sites routinely using zoned working, segregation and your traffic management plan. Where ride-on machinery is used in an active aisle, we agree exclusion arrangements with your shift manager first.

Do you provide the scrubber-drier or do we?

Either. Most clients prefer we supply and maintain the machine so servicing and breakdown cover sit with us. If you already own suitable equipment we can operate and maintain yours instead, which usually reduces the monthly cost.

How often should warehouse racking be cleaned at high level?

For general storage, quarterly to annually is typical. For food, pharmaceutical or electronics storage, or anywhere with a combustible-dust concern, it should be more frequent and driven by your own risk assessment and audit standard.

Can you cover multiple warehouses across the UK?

Yes. Multi-site estates run on one specification, one account manager and one consolidated invoice, with a named supervisor at each location and audit scores reported centrally.

What happens to the existing cleaning team if we switch?

If TUPE applies, the incumbent team transfers to us on their existing terms. We handle the measurement information, consultation and onboarding so there is no gap in service on day one.
